Partner Feature: Sugar Beak Bakery

We here at the Tasteful Pantry love discovering local small businesses that are aligned with the Tasteful Pantry’s mission of transforming ‘free-from’ snacking into a delightful experience. Sugar Beak Bakery does exactly that! Based in Orange County, CA, Sugar Beak was started this August by Ashley Fiocco to provide homemade baked goods that are both delicious AND healthy. All of her treats are vegan, organic and full of fresh produce, plant-based protein, fiber, and omega-rich seeds, nuts and grains. She doesn’t use any refined sugar or preservatives, and most of her products are also naturally gluten-free!

With products like Double-Chocolate Spinach Brownie Bites and Quinoa + Hemp Chocolate Chip Cookies, you might have your doubts about really how tasty these baked goods can be. But I assure you, they are decadent and delicious. I couldn’t even taste the spinach in the Double-Chocolate Spinach Brownie Bites – it was just pure chocolate heaven.

And for the holidays, Ashley has made delicious Pumpkin Spice Brownies for our Thanksgiving Sweets Box that combine perfectly the festive flavor of roasted pumpkin with the rich flavor of dark chocolate. Click here to read more about the box!

A vegetarian since the age of 12 and a native Californian, Ashley Fiocco came from a culinary arts background and spent some time in France perfecting her baking skills and gaining inspiration. She was a personal chef in Manhattan for a client who was ill and had more dietary restrictions that most of us can imagine but still wanted to eat American classics like chicken pot-pie and meatloaf. So Ashley learned how to make healthy plant-based foods delicious. She also worked for celebrity chef Cat Cora (Iron Chef) for 5 years before deciding on a trip to France that she was tired of feeling disgusting after eating her favorite butter-laden pastries and that she was going to make her own healthier versions. Thus Sugar Beak Bakery was born. To satisfy her sweet tooth (“sugar beak” or le bec sucré as the French call it), Ashley wanted to make goods that could be eaten with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and she did (she often eats her samples for breakfast).

We at the Tasteful Pantry are so excited to be partnering with Ashley and Sugar Beak Bakery! We can’t wait for you to taste her yummy desserts in our Holiday Boxes!
