Good with: Fajita or warm burrito fixings.

Other Flavors: Exotic Black Rice, Sprouted Corn, Ezekiel 4:9 (not gluten-free)

Why We Love It: Compared to other gluten-free tortillas out there (namely, corn tortillas for tacos), these tortillas are larger and contain more natural ingredients. However, they don’t have a lot of flavor on their own, and the texture is very stiff, even when heated. When we tried these with sandwich fixings on the inside, the tortilla was so stiff it broke in several places, leaving us with mayonnaise fingers! However, these are good if you’re looking for a yeast-free sandwich option or have warm fillings that are full of flavor on their own.

Meet the Makers: Based in Corona, CA, Food for Life has been making health-oriented breads since the 1960’s. They are known for their sprouted multi-grain breads, most notably their Ezekiel 4:9 sprouted whole grain bread. They also provide breads, tortillas and cereals for people with specific health concerns, including gluten-free, vegan, diabetic-friendly and yeast-free. www.foodforlife.com

Fun Fact: Food for Life’s Ezekiel 4:9 products are crafted in the likeness of the Holy Scripture verse Ezekiel 4:9: “Take also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils and millet, and spelt and put them in one vessel…” Yup, they found the recipe in the bible!
